Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is the fastest-starting ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, launching riders from 0 to 57 mph in under three seconds. The indoor coaster on Sunset Boulevard opened in 1999 with Aerosmith, and it reopened on May 26, 2026 with a new story starring Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. The track, speed and loops are the same. Everything around them is pure Muppet mayhem.

The story
The band is late for a big concert, so Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker have invented the L.I.M.O. (Lengthy Immediate Motion Object) to get them, and their backstage-pass holders, across Los Angeles on time. The queue winds through G-Force Records, now under Muppet management, where you’ll spot Animal’s drum kit, Lips’ saxophone and plenty of gags from The Muppet Show.
In the preshow, Scooter tries to keep the recording session on track while a rotating cast of Muppet opening acts gets booed off the stage. Then it’s out to the alley, where your stretch limo is waiting.
What the ride is like
Animal counts down the launch, and the limo rockets into the dark streets of L.A. The soundtrack plays through speakers in your seat, with the Electric Mayhem performing one of five songs, including covers of “Born to Be Wild,” “Walking on Sunshine” and “Love Rollercoaster” with guest stars. You’ll go through two loops and a corkscrew before arriving at the show, where Statler and Waldorf are waiting to heckle you.
Tips
- Ride more than once. Each limo plays a different song.
- Try the single rider line to save time if your group doesn’t mind splitting up.
- Look closely in the queue. It’s packed with Muppet in-jokes.
- Pair it nearby. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is right next door.
Accessibility
Guests must transfer from a wheelchair or ECV. The launch and inversions are intense, so Disney advises against riding for expectant mothers and guests with heart, back or neck conditions.
