Piston Peak National Park is the new Cars-themed land under construction in Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland. It replaces the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat, which closed in 2025. Disney describes the land as a rugged national-park landscape seen through the world of Lightning McQueen and friends, with forests, mountains, waterfalls and geysers.

What we know so far
Disney has shared concept art showing a mountain range, pine forests and a park-ranger-style entrance, all populated by the Cars characters. Construction is well underway, with a large tower crane visible across the park as of September 2026. Guests can see parts of the site from the queue of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Because the Walt Disney World Railroad passed through this area, part of its track has been removed. The train is running round trips between Main Street and Fantasyland until the full loop returns.
What closed to make room
- Tom Sawyer Island, the rafts-only island of caves, bridges and forts that had been there since 1973.
- The Liberty Square Riverboat, the paddle-wheel steamboat that circled the Rivers of America.
- The Rivers of America waterway itself.
