Lotus Blossom Cafe

Fresh air, delicious Chinese food, and a break from the crowds describe the vibes at the Lotus Blossom Café at Epcot. This counter-service restaurant has great authentic dishes and is the go-to place when you are looking for something quick and delicious to eat. Order your food at the counter and have a seat in the open patio area to relax. Are you ready to chow down on delicious Chinese food?

Let’s head to the China pavilion at Epcot and let the fun begin!

Explore the China Pavilion

As you walk through the world showcase at Epcot, you will find the China pavilion between Norway and Germany. You can’t miss the entrance to China because it has a large colorful gateway entrance with amazing architecture. Walking through the gate and large red pillars, you immerse yourself in Chinese culture.

The courtyard features the Temple of Heaven, which also is the entrance to the Reflections of China attraction. The temple is also home to a museum that exhibits ancient artifacts.

Live entertainment is located outdoors in the courtyard, where you can see a team of Chinese acrobats put on a great show.

As you explore the pavilion, make sure you visit the small shops. They are filled with beautiful Chinese items such as toys, hats, puppets, parasols, good fortune gifts, housewares, silk robes, tea sets, and wall prints.

Lotus Blossom Café Décor

The Lotus Blossom Café at Epcot is an open-air patio restaurant with authentic Chinese architecture and interior décor. It’s an excellent place for enjoying lunch or dinner. You walk up to the counter, place your order and find a table to sit and enjoy your meal.

They also have tables on the exterior of the patio seating area, but they are in direct sunlight. The décor in the patio and ordering area is traditional Chinese red and gold themed.

Review of the Cuisine at the Lotus Blossom Café

The menu is simple and features Chinese dishes, popular options in most restaurants. However, it tastes extra good after a long day walking through Epcot. Here are the dishes that passed the taste test.

Appetizers

Chicken Pot Stickers

These tasty pot stickers are stuffed with seasoned chicken and vegetables. The pot sticker is sautéed in oil, giving it extra flavor and texture. They are great as an appetizer and an excellent addition to any combo meals.

Pork Egg Rolls

These egg rolls are a good size, and eating a few will keep you full for a while. They are also a great snack to take with you as you continue your journey through the world showcase. The egg rolls contain cabbage, carrots, and seasoned pork. The outer layer of the roll is fried and has a nice crunch.

Entrees

Mongolian Beef Combo

This meal features tasty and tender Mongolian beef, spicy noodles, vegetables, and an egg roll. The beef tastes delicious and has a special sauce that puts the flavor over the top.

Orange Chicken Combo

The chicken has the perfect amount of orange flavor and doesn’t overpower the chicken. This meal is served with an egg roll, vegetables, and steamed white rice.

Chicken Fried Rice

This classic dish is everything you expect it to be. However, the spices they use to flavor the rice are delicious and pop with every bite. This meal is also served with a crispy egg roll and seasonal vegetables.

Desserts

Lychee Ice Cream

This dessert is something special. The sweet Lychee and smooth ice cream floral notes create the ultimate refreshing dessert.

Caramel Ginger Ice Cream

This ice cream is super delicious due to the soothing flavor of caramel combined with ginger. The ginger is a bit spicy but works great with the caramel and creates an excellent combination that your taste buds will love.

Beverages

The Lotus Blossom Café offers a variety of beverages, but you need to try the Lychee-flavored iced black tea. This sweet tea has a fruity flavor from the Lychee and is ice cold, perfect on a hot summer day.

However, if you visit Epcot during the winter or cold months in Florida, you need to try the delicious Chinese Oolong hot tea. The flavor is amazing, and it helps keep you warm. Both drinks are easy to carry, so you can continue enjoying the beverage as you navigate the world showcase.

Alcoholic Beverages

The Lotus Blossom Café offers alcoholic beverages such as draft beer, but the plum wine is special. At first, you expect it to taste like red wine, but then there’s a surprise with the flavor, and it has a slightly sweet and sour vibe that is mouthwatering and delicious.

The plum wine pairs perfectly with Mongolian beef, Chicken fried rice, egg rolls, and pot stickers. Since the wine has a bit of a sweet flavor, it also is a great dessert wine and compliments the caramel ginger ice cream option in a unique and flavorful way. However, the combination of the Lychee ice cream and the plum wine don’t complement each other well and ends up tasting a bit sour.

When visiting the café, be prepared to wait in line and not have access to air conditioning. The open-air dining experience is great during the cooler months but can become extremely hot during summer.

If you visit during summer, sit in the patio dining area because it’s covered, protects you from the sun, and has fans to help keep you cool. It also is shaded and can be quite comfortable instead of dining at tables located on the exterior in the direct sunlight.

Overall, the Lotus Blossom Cafe is a great place to stop and enjoy tasty Chinese food with your friends and family. The casual setting has plenty of fresh air, while the structure of the patio roof protects you from the hot sun. You don’t need a reservation to visit this restaurant so you can go back for more.
