Explore the Italy Pavilion

The Italy pavilion in Epcot’s world showcase is between The American Adventure and Germany. When you are approaching the Italy pavilion from the American Adventure side, you almost walk right past it due to the crowd of people. However, make sure you take a left into the pavilion and step into Italy to enjoy all it offers.  Do you love to shop for Italian-made goods? The cute shops in the Italy pavilion are filled with plenty of items to choose from. You will find Italian-made jewelry, perfume, clothing, wine, alabaster vases, home décor items, and more.  The pavilion is built like a plaza that features Venetian, Florentine, and Roman architecture. These buildings are replicas of architecture found in Italy, such as the St. Mark’s Campanile bell tower. This bell tower looks like the identical twin to the original and will have you second guessing if you are in Epcot or Europe.  An added touch that is quite nice is the live street performances. Sometimes they are on the small stage set up in the front of the pavilion, and other times you will see small acts street performing in the plaza. Depending on the time of year you visit, the performers can be storytellers, live music, singers, or flag throwing show. 

Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar Décor

Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar is a hidden gem everyone knows about. It’s located in the plaza and has a simple red sign outdoors that says “wine cellar.” Once you walk inside, you feel like you are in a wine cellar.  The décor combines old-world antiqued walls, brick arches, and exposed wood beams. The tables have a casual feel and seem more like a family restaurant than a bar.  The temperature is cool too, so that you might need a light sweater. Chances are they keep it cool to keep all the wine chilled. During the day, the restaurant is well lit, while the evenings have dim lighting that can feel a bit romantic and mysterious.

Calamari Fritters These calamari fritters are fried to perfection and served with a special marinara Picante sauce for dipping. The breading has an excellent thickness that is perfect for a substantial bite to complement your first glass of wine before your meal arrives.  Cesar Salad  This starter might sound standard, but it’s delicious! It contains crostini, cherry tomatoes, romaine lettuce, shaved grana Padano, and your choice of chicken breast or shrimp. In this case, the chicken breast was chosen, and it has a great texture and flavor that went well with the salad. 

Pasta Dishes

If you are going to eat in an Italian restaurant, you must try the pasta. This restaurant offers a variety of options that will impress you. Here are some of their best pasta dishes that passed the taste test.  Lasagna Bolognese This dish is prepared in the traditional Emilia-Romagna way and includes lasagna pasta noodles layered with pork ragu sauce, béchamel sauce, parmesan, veal, and beef. The flavors of the sauces combined with the different meats and cheese make this lasagna extra special. Penne Vodka  This pasta dish features penne pasta and tasty lobster meat. The parmesan cream sauce attaches to each pasta noodle, so the flavor is in every bite. The cheesy sauce also compliments the grilled taste of the chicken breast, making this dish a must-try!

Cannoli  This traditional Sicilian dessert has a crispy pastry shell filled with sweetened ricotta cheese. The cheese tastes more like a dessert filling, not actual cheese. It has chocolate mixed in with the cheese and candied orange, giving it a refreshing flavor.  Mocha Tiramisu This dessert is meant for coffee lovers! This popular Italian dessert features espresso, mascarpone cheese, chocolate, and savoiardi biscuits.
