Happily Ever After is the nighttime spectacular that ends many days at Magic Kingdom. Fireworks burst over Cinderella Castle while projections wash across the castle and the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A., following a rousing original score and songs from Disney and Pixar films. It first debuted in 2017, stepped aside in 2021 for Disney Enchantment during Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and returned by popular demand in April 2023. Fans have treated it as the park’s signature finale ever since.

What to expect

The show tells a loose story about chasing dreams, with scenes drawn from films like Moana, Frozen, Aladdin, Tangled and The Lion King. Projection mapping turns the castle into a moving canvas, with characters appearing to climb its towers and scenery sweeping across its walls. The fireworks build to a big emotional finale, and the theme song is the kind that lingers.

Where to watch

  • Main Street, U.S.A. gives you the full picture, with projections on the buildings as well as the castle. Stake out a spot 45 to 60 minutes early on busy nights.
  • The castle hub is closest to the action but gets very crowded. Stand centered on the castle for the best view of the projections.
  • Off-center spots near Tomorrowland or Liberty Square are more relaxed if you mostly want the fireworks.
  • Outside the park, the fireworks are visible from the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and from some Contemporary Resort viewing areas, with the music piped in.

Tips

  • Ride during the show. Waits for Space Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight and other popular rides often drop while everyone is watching.
  • Plan your exit. Crowds pour onto Main Street right after the finale. Linger in the park a little while if you’re not in a hurry.
  • Weather matters. High winds or lightning can cancel or change the fireworks, though the projections sometimes go on.
