Waiting with Anticipation
As you approach Mission Space, you will notice the amazing exterior decorations that immediately create a desire to explore the universe. As you wait in line to board your mission, you will be surrounded by space-inspired technology. As you observe the captivating décor, you will need to decide which mission is best suited for you.
Here are your Mission options:
- Orbit the Earth on the Green Mission – This family-friendly space exploration is a gentle mission that uses a motion simulator that only produces light movement without spinning. This mission is exciting and ideal for those prone to motion sickness.
- Journey to Mars on the Orange Mission – This thrilling mission gives you the full experience of hurtling through space. The simulator uses a spinning and tilting centrifuge and G-like forces to launch your mission. If you are in good health and love spinning and lots of movement when you ride an attraction, the orange mission is for you. If you have physical problems, a heart condition, or experience motion sickness, you should not ride this attraction.
Once you decide, you will be directed toward your mission and to wait in line. As you wait, you will receive astronaut training, safety instructions, and other details related to your mission. Pay close attention to the screens in the lobby to complete your training. You also can decide whether to continue forward to experience the ride or opt-out of the mission.
Tip: There is a uniformed crew member you can speak to if you want to opt-out or, choose a less intense training option or leave the attraction.
What it Feels Like to Ride Mission Space
It’s your turn to feel like an astronaut, and Mission Space delivers the experience to maximum levels. When it’s time to board the ride, you will be instructed on where to sit and how to secure yourself in your assigned seat. The ride contains four passengers at a time that have a job to do. You are going to be a navigator, pilot, commander, or engineer if you take the orange mission.
Tip: There are storage bins in front of your seat on the ride to store your belongings.
Once the doors of the ride shut, the ride is dark, and the screens are incredibly realistic. You feel like you are in a spacecraft and feel the ride’s movement as you blast into space. The simulator spins, making it an exciting ride.
Post Show
After your mission is complete, you walk down a long corridor with a space training vibe. You enter the Advanced Training Lab, where groups of guests can participate in a game called Mission Space Race. During this game, the players complete tasks to aid spacecraft racing to achieve their return to Earth. There are also single-player arcade games to enjoy in the same area.
Tip: Keep an eye out for the kiosk where you can create video postcards to send to your family and friends via e-mail.
